I wanted to bring back the art of calligraphy (as some would say) and make money doing the things I loved.Alex Krivanek – Owner/Founder, Air and Sea Studio
Since it’s thursday I wanted to go ahead and do our #ThrowbackThursday post about where we started. Yes, I already did a post on the origin of our studio, and if you are looking for a more in-depth look in that aspect, you can find that blog post here.
I just wanted to throw a little fun fact out there about where I thought this whole Air and Sea Studio thing was going to go..
A few years into my current job, a co-worker of mine was really into hand-lettering, and I expressed my interest on learning the magic of drawing curvy lines and calligraphy. She then went to show me a few calligraphy and brush-lettering pens that would get me started.
Little did I know, I would get hooked..
From then on, I was writing anything and everything I could to gain experience on this passion that has now consumed my life.
Air and Sea Studio was going to be a calligraphy and hand-lettering business. I wanted to bring back the art of calligraphy (as some would say) and make money doing the things I loved.
However a longshot that may have been, Air and Sea Studio ended up not too far from that! I realized that there is A LOT of calligraphy and lettering in the wedding business, so I stuck to that, along with merging my love for graphic design.
I won’t get too far into the origins as I said, you can find that link in the first paragraph above.
Did you have a passion that turned into something more? Did you find something in your current job that became a side-hustle? Or even better, your main job?
Let me know down in the comment section!
